Max Liebermann - Two Riders on the Beach

Liebermann painted dozens of variations on the motif "Riders on the Beach", and his paths frequently crossed with those of the art dealer Hildebrand Gurlitt, who bought and sold Liebermann's paintings with varying degrees of legality during the twelve years of the Third Reich.
