Henri de Toulouse -Lautrec - Jane Avril

Avril, a lifelong friend of the artist, commissioned this print to promote her cabaret performance at the Jardin in Paris in 1893. Lautrec's composition is characterized by a radically distorted perspective, a severe neckline, flattened shapes and curved lines - like those that describe Avril's frilly costume.
