Oskar Schlemmer - Bauhaus Staircase

Slender figures on a staircase, moving away from the viewer as if to sanction an epochal break: this is the symbolization of the announced closure of the Bauhaus school under the Nazis. A significant representation of the central theme of Schlemmer's work, namely the relationship between the human body and the environment: the dynamic human figures contrast with the static, geometric forms of the staircase.
