Vincent van Gogh - Irises

Van Gogh painted this still life in the psychiatric hospital of Saint-Rémy. For him, the painting was above all a study of color. He aimed for a strong color contrast. By placing the purple flowers against a yellow background, he was able to emphasize the decorative shapes even more.
