Vincent van Gogh - Self-portrait as a painter

Van Gogh's dozens of self-portraits were an important part of his painting output. Most likely, Van Gogh's self-portraits depict the face as it appeared in the mirror he used to render his face, i.e. his right side in the painting is in reality the left side of his face. This self-portrait was created between 1887 and 1888.
